Urquhart has over 10 years of coaching and teaching experience including six years at the NCAA DI and DIII levels at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, Canisius College in Buffalo, New York and at The University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas. Prior to his college coaching experience, Urquhart  coached at the high school level in Colorado at Academy Charter and Alexander Dawson High. During that time, he also helped run several youth camps and clinics through the city of Louisville, CO including, football, soccer, and basketball. It was during that time that Urquhart developed a lifelong passion for working with kids and helping instill the importance of education, dreams, and aspirations. In addition to his coaching resume, Urquhart currently works as a  Special Education PE Teacher at UCP of Central Florida. With stops as a Substitute and Summer School Teacher at the Stanley G. Falk School in Buffalo, NY for 3 years where he worked with students who had special learning, social, and emotional needs. It was during that time that he was inspired to start The First Run Foundation as he felt some of these children were not being afforded the same opportunities and resources as many of the other kids he had worked with over the years. As a result, he embarked on a journey to help provide an avenue for kids in similar circumstances and situations to have the same chance to discover their life’s purpose and help to make meaningful contributions to society.

Natalie Urquhart

Board of Director Member

Stafford has over ten years of volunteer and professional experience. Natalie has always had a desire to make a difference in the community. Her initial passion came from working with YMCA programs that provided affordable after school and summer care for children in more vulnerable communities. From that experience, she knew she wanted to pursue a degree that would allow her to continue to make an impact on the community. Therefore, she went on to gain degrees in Integrative Physiology and Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. During college, she was dedicated to internships and volunteer work. She spent 2 years interning with SCI Recovery Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping patients with spinal cord injuries live a more fulfilling life. The organization specialized in designing custom rehabilitation programs involving evidence-based, adaptive techniques to help patients maintain health and wellness while helping to provide gain in mobility. She was also a member of Global Medical and Public Health Brigades and spent time in Esteli, Nicaragua to help implement sustainable health programs in underserved communities. She helped build cement floors, provide education on preventative health care, and assist volunteer Doctors in providing medical and dental services to patients who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. After college, Natalie decided to complete her Master’s in Public Health and enter the research field to help prevent families from experiencing loss due to disease. She now works in clinical research to help find cures for cardiovascular disease and cancer.
